About MICCSOF

The Migori County Civil Society Organization Forum (MICCSOF) is a registered National Non-Governmental Organization established on November 6, 2014, under certificate number OP218/05/14-0364/9713 by the NGO Coordination Board. The Forum serves as a platform for constructive engagement between the National Government, County Governments, Project/Program Partners, Development Partners, and Registered Civil Society Organizations in Migori County.

Membership in the Forum is open to the Founders, Civil Societies in Migori County, and Thematic Area Experts upon payment of a non-refundable membership fee of Ksh. 1,000.00. Members have autonomy in CBO-specific funding, resource mobilization, project/program planning, implementation, and monitoring. The Forum also provides support in areas such as project supervision and capacity enhancement, in line with the Public Benefits Act 2013.

Sub-Counties Represented

As of November 30, 2023, the Forum has 134 members representing all 8 Sub-Counties of Migori County. The Forum has achieved significant representation in various committees and boards within Migori County, contributing to the legislative agenda through initiatives such as the Migori County Climate Change Act 2023, Migori County Youth Policy, and other important bills and policies.

Health Environment Governance Education

The Forum's thematic areas of focus include Health, Environment, Governance, and Education. This encompasses a wide range of issues such as health awareness, environmental conservation, good governance, and inclusive education. Additionally, the Forum has made contributions to various committees and policies related to climate change, disability, gender, and peace and reconciliation in Migori County.

MICCSOF is committed to promoting transparency, accountability, and social impact in Migori County. The organization fosters collaboration and partnership among diverse civil society entities, empowering its members to address pressing social challenges, advocate for policy reform, and implement impactful programs. MICCSOF ensures that marginalized and underrepresented groups are heard and valued in decision-making processes, embracing diversity and creating an inclusive environment for all members.

MICCSOF program activities

MICCSOF equips its members with the skills, knowledge, and resources needed to design, implement, and monitor effective programs through capacity building and training initiatives. It also supports resource mobilization by providing technical assistance and support in grant writing, budgeting, and financial reporting.

Recognizing the challenges in the social impact sector, MICCSOF provides mental health and self-care workshops to support the well-being of its members and their staff. The organization advocates for policies and programs addressing various issues, including gender-based violence, women's empowerment, education for children with disabilities, healthcare access, environmental conservation, economic development, and human rights protection.

MICCSOF upholds the highest standards of governance and ethical conduct, ensuring effective and efficient resource management.
